Parent's Journal Show Interviews Dr. Toy

San Francisco, CA – (Dec. 3, 2007)  - International radio show,  will feature an interview with child development and toy expert, Stevanne Auerbach, PhD, better known as Dr. Toy.  This timely interview about “Favorite Toys: From Newborns To Elementary Aged Kids” is set to be released on December 12th. Be sure to check your local NPR stations schedule for an exact broadcast time.

The weekly one-hour national radio series for parents, care-givers, educators, and others, who care for children, will be syndicated the week of December 12 for a well timed holiday discussion about tips for parents in a slightly more difficult toy choosing process this year.

Each week since 1986, The Parent’s Journal shares information from renowned authors, leading child psychologists, child development experts, and real parents. With host Bobbi Conner, an author of books, parenting articles, and mother of three, The Parents Journal holds conversations with nationally acclaimed guests discussing a variety of contemporary parenting issues, such as childhood sleep problems, temper tantrums, sibling squabbles, friendship skills, setting limits, childcare, and homework hassles.

From the practical to the profound, the lively discussions heard on The Parent's Journal help moms and dads everywhere respond to the everyday ups and downs of raising a child in today's world. About Dr Toy
Stevanne Auerbach, Ph.D., aka “Dr. Toy” has been evaluating and speaking about toys and children’s products for more than 30 years. She was a teacher, and staff member of the U.S. Department of Education and the Office of Economic Opportunity, where she evaluated educational programs, approved the first grant to “Sesame Street,” organized the first in-house child care center for federal employees’ children, and developed a federal research program on child care.

Dr. Auerbach is trained in child development, education, child psychology and special education. She is a parent educator, consultant, parent and playful grandparent. She founded the San Francisco International Toy Museum, the first “Hands On” Toy Museum, the first web site on toys (Dr. Toy's Guide: drtoy.com) and is the author of 15 books and hundreds of articles, including her best-selling book, Smart Play/Smart Toys How to Raise a Child with a High P.Q. It is published in many languages and is internationally available in Croatia, Greece, India, Indonesia, Israel, Korea, Russia, Spain and Thailand.

Dr. Auerbach is director of the non-profit Institute for Childhood Resources in San Francisco.
